Shadows in the City is an original marching band production set in the Film Noir era of the 20th Century – built around the atmosphere, mystery, and energy of the city at night. Music, visual design, and sound work together to create a cinematic world of shifting light, movement, tension, and intrigue.

About the Production
The 1940s and 1950s are generally regarded as the “classic period” of American film noir. Film noir of this era is associated with a low-key, black-and-white visual style. Many of the
prototypical stories and attitudes expressed in classic noir derive from the hardboiled school of crime fiction that emerged in the United States during the Great Depression, known as
noir fiction.
Design & Musical Direction
The show, in three parts, tells a story of intrigue and deception. Each movement representing a different element of classic noir, including mystery/suspense, betrayal, and revelation. Show follows a “detective/private investigator” thru the mysterious city where shadows
conceal secrets.
